World Cup 2023 Update: The NZ vs SA warm-up match was held today in Greenfield International Stadium, Thiruvananthapuram. New Zealand won the match by seven runs (DLS method).

South Africa Squad:

Temba Bavuma (c), Gerald Coetzee, Quinton de Kock, Reeza Hendricks, Marco Jansen, Heinrich Klaasen, Andile Phehlukwayo, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Lungi Ngidi, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Rassie van der Dussen, and Lizaad Williams.

NZ vs SA Match Summary:

New Zealand won the toss and chose to bat first against South Africa. NZ openers were trying to set until Will Young got lbw by Ngidi. Until then, Devon Conway  got a brilliant start and build a beautiful partnership with Kane Williamson of 48 runs in 54 balls. Kane Williamson retired himself after scoring 37 off 51. Conway also got retired hurt after scoring magnificent 78 runs in 73 balls with a strike rate of 106.84. 

At the same time, Tom Latham and Glenn Phillips  put up a partnership by scoring 52 and 43 runs respectively. Until Jansen strikes to get lbw of Tom. NZ middle order somehow struggled to get the score upto 321 with the loss of 8 wickets.

SA bowlers were average until Lungi Ngidi and Marco Jansen put up the show by taking three wickets each.

On the other hand, Quinton de Kock † the opener batsman of SA batted brilliantly by scoring 84 runs off 89 balls. Quinton de Kock † and Rassie van der Dussen  put up a brilliant effort but was not upto the mark, as they were eight runs short according to the DLS method.NZ bowlers, especially Trent Boult was good enough who did not let SA chase 219 in 37 overs (DLS).
