Pak vs Aus Match Summary:

World Cup 2023: Pak vs Aus warm-up match that happened today in Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium was in full swing as Australia won the match by 14 runs.

Australian openers put up a good start against Pakistan bowling as David Warner and Mitchell Marsh put up a partnership of 83 runs in 75 balls. David Warner, who played an innings of 48 runs, and Mitchell Marsh scored 31 until Pak leg spinner Usama Mir strikes taking both the openers in his first two spells, respectively.

Hasan Ali looked economical with the new ball, and Muhammad Nawaz played his usual role. Shadab Khan, again was not good enough in his middle overs. While our pacers, Haris Rauf and Wasim Jr. were the ones who lost their momentum in the death overs.

Glenn Maxwell and Josh Inglis batted incredibly well, putting up a show by leaking 126 runs in the last 12 overs. Cameron Green also participated by completing the last ball fifty by a four. Haris Rauf conceded 97 in 9 overs.

Pakistan’s batting line-up again started to collapse until Iftikhar Ahmed and Babar Azam’s run-partnership brought Pakistan back into the contest. Pakistani openers, Imam Ul Haq and Fakhar Zaman looked quite good at first, but they were soon in trouble as both openers were back to the pavilion, along with Abdullah Shafique, who came in at number 3.

Pakistan was soon in trouble until the run-rate started to drop after 83-4. Until then, Pakistani skipper Babar Azam came to rescue, lifted up the score, and brought Pakistan back into the game by scoring an unbeaten 90. He soon got retired as the score was left with 87 required in 13 overs.

Australia would have won earlier, but they dragged the game along by trying new combinations of spins. They tried their part-time spinners, Marnus Lambuschagne and Glenn Maxwell, and even more part-time spinners, David Warner and Steve Smith, who were quite expensive.

Nawaz got a chip-in by scoring 50 from down the order but was not able to finish the game as Pakistan was still left with 25 runs to win the game.

Australia put up a great effort with the bat and the ball and is all set for the Cricket World Cup in 2023.

Pakistan needs to work on it’s negatives before putting up the show on October 6 for it’s match against the Netherlands.
